Concerning The claimant asserts interests in the Whauwhau Pounamu land block (Whangarei); and the Mohinui Topu (Waiomio), Punaruku 2 and Tutaimatai land blocks (Bay of Islands). The claimant is particularly concerned over the amalgamation of the lands at Waiomio into the Mohinui/Waiomio development scheme. The claimant alleges that, in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, the descendents of her tūpuna have been prejudicially affected by the Crown implementation of legislation and policies which alienated their interests in these land blocks; and impinging on their ability to exercise rangatiratanga over these lands.

Concerning This claim concerns areas at the lower end of the Rataroa catchment where rivers, including the Rataroa, Wharera and Komutu, meet the Whangaroa Harbour. The claimant alleges that the Crown’s actions and omissions, including permitting tidal areas to be drained and turned into farmable land, were in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. The claimant alleges that Te Whānau o Rataroa were prejudicially affected by the loss of major food sources, potable water and other resources which Te Whānau o Rataroa traditionally relied upon to support themselves; a key economic resource; and their common law rights to own and utilise accreted land.

Concerning This claim concerns the Te Totara Block situated near Totara North. The claimants allege that, in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, the Crown’s confiscation, sale and failure to return Māori land to the original owners has prejudicially affected the descendents of Erana Ururoa by causing the forced re-location of the Tahawai hapū due to limited land and other resources; fragmentation of whānau; and loss of connection to their ancestral land and cultural heritage.
