Concerning The claimant asserts interests in the Whauwhau Pounamu land block (Whangarei); and the Mohinui Topu (Waiomio), Punaruku 2 and Tutaimatai land blocks (Bay of Islands). The claimant is particularly concerned over the amalgamation of the lands at Waiomio into the Mohinui/Waiomio development scheme. The claimant alleges that, in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, the descendents of her tūpuna have been prejudicially affected by the Crown implementation of legislation and policies which alienated their interests in these land blocks; and impinging on their ability to exercise rangatiratanga over these lands.

Concerning The claimant alleges that, in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, her whānau and hapū have been prejudicially affected by the Crown’s conduct including the purchase of Mania and the continued development of the Manaia Scenic Reserve without consultation or consideration of Māori interests; Operation of the Native Land Court causing the alienation of claimant hapū’s land interests; Failure to consult with the claimant about the establishment of local government processes and to provide adequate representation at the local government level; Allowing the deliberate release of possums and other animal pests at Tutāmoe causing the decline in the number of native birds; and Use of possum eradication methods which have affected traditional links with the forest as a source of food.

Concerning This claim concerns areas within Whangaroa to the West of Kaeo, between Kaeo and Pupuke. The claimant alleges that, in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, Ngāti Pakahi were prejudicially affected by the Crown’s actions and omissions including the dispossession of Ngāti Pakahi lands through a range of means including the old land claims regime, the Native Land Court regime and Crown purchasing practices; depriving Ngāti Pakahi of forest resources on their lands; permitting deforestation, pollution and depletion of sources of rongoā; environmental management policies and practices that degraded rivers and waterways within Ngāti Pakahi's rohe; depriving Ngāti Pakahi of some of their wāhi tapu, which were desecrated and destroyed; the subversion of te reo Māori and the decrease of cultural resources; and the depletion of the economic resources and opportunities.

Concerning This claim concerns areas at the lower end of the Rataroa catchment where rivers, including the Rataroa, Wharera and Komutu, meet the Whangaroa Harbour. The claimant alleges that the Crown’s actions and omissions, including permitting tidal areas to be drained and turned into farmable land, were in breach of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. The claimant alleges that Te Whānau o Rataroa were prejudicially affected by the loss of major food sources, potable water and other resources which Te Whānau o Rataroa traditionally relied upon to support themselves; a key economic resource; and their common law rights to own and utilise accreted land.
