Concerning: The claim concerns the failure of the Crown to provide for the healthcare of Māori in respect of their susceptibility to disease, disproportionate loss of life and loss of good health. The claimant alleges the Crown has breached the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi by failing to: • Provide health services necessary to stem the disproportionate loss of life and loss of good health amongst Māori; • Provide accessible services for good health; • Recognise Māori have difficulties in accessing doctors or specialists services; • Address the high cost of transport and consultation fees; • Address the unclear or misunderstood medical information provided to Māori in relation to serious illness; and • Provide equal funding to Māori health service providers. • Provide adequate care and resources for the people of Ngati Kauwhata at the Kauwhata, Aorangi and Iwa Te Kau Ma Iwa Marae.
